Cropping a Shopify shipping label to 4×6
June 18, 2026 · 4 min read
Shopify Shipping defaults to 8.5×11 US Letter, which wastes 60% of the page. Here are two ways to fix it — one permanent, one on-demand.
Option A: change Shopify's default (permanent)
- Shopify Admin → Settings → Shipping and delivery.
- Scroll to Shipping labels.
- Change Label format to 4 × 6 (thermal).
- Save. From this point forward every new label prints at 4×6.
This works for Shopify Shipping (US/CA/UK). For third-party apps like Shippo, Easyship or AfterShip the setting lives in each app's own preferences.
Option B: crop the PDF after downloading
Useful for legacy orders you already printed to Letter, or when a customer support agent re-sent you a label in the wrong size.
- Drop the PDF into the Shopify cropper.
- The Shopify preset auto-detects the label region.
- Export as 4×6 PDF. Hit print at 100% scale.
Handling packing slips
Shopify's packing slip is a separate PDF — don't try to crop it to 4×6. Print it on plain paper from any laser printer and slip it inside the package.
Which carriers does this cover?
Every carrier Shopify Shipping integrates with — USPS, UPS, DHL Express, Sendle, Canada Post, Royal Mail, EVRi. The 4×6 output is barcode-vector-preserved, so scan rates stay 100% at the sort centre.
